The Healthy Schools Campaign announced it will hold a Green Clean Schools National Summit November 12, 2008, in Washington, D.C. The announcement was made in a joint, live press conference held with representatives from HSC and two of its strong supporters, ISSA and The Ashkin Group, yesterday, the first day of ISSA/INTERCLEAN® North America 2008.

The summit will bring together national organizations, corporate leaders, state-level activists, and other concerned groups and individuals with the aim of developing state-specific strategies based on previous successful efforts. In 2006, the state of New York passed a law requiring green cleaning in schools; in 2007 Illinois passed a similar law, and activists in more than a dozen states are currently planning to introduce green cleaning in schools legislation, ISSA and HSC said.

The HSC also announced the release of the second edition of the Quick & Easy Guide to Green Cleaning in Schools, which has been improved and expanded to include new sections on sustainability, green cleaning for food service, integrated pest management, and more.

ISSA/INTERCLEAN North America continues through September 11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.
