- P&G Goes Solar
November 11, 2009 — The Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G) will use a 1.1-megawatt solar array to help electrify its paper plant in Oxnard, CA, according to the e-newsletter Environmental Leader.
The photovoltaic solar array should generate more than 1.9 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity during its first year of operation and more than 34 million kWh over 20 years, according to a P&G press release. P&G estimates that, over its lifetime, the solar array will help mitigate carbon emissions equivalent to 36.9 million pounds.
