- Arbitrator Resolves University of Minnesota Labor Dispute
July 5, 2012 — An independent arbitrator has issued a ruling on a dispute between the University of Minnesota and members of Teamsters Local 320 over a new cleaning practice.
The arbitrator denied the union’s claim that university’s new team-cleaning practice violates its existing contract, reports The Minnesota Daily. After three days of testimony and 60 days of consideration, the arbitrator ruled in favor of the school’s new practice in which custodians bid into supervisors’ areas based on seniority and then are responsible for completing all of the tasks within that area.
