- Cyclospora Outbreak Linked to Contaminated Salad
July 31, 2013 — Health officials have linked the recent cyclospora outbreak in Iowa and Nebraska to a pre-packaged salad mix.
The flu-like virus has sickened 178 people in the two states. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating where the contamination originated in the production chain and where the product was distributed. FDA officials have yet to determine if the contaminated salad mix is linked to the larger cyclospora outbreak that has sickened hundreds nationwide, reports Fox News.
