- Norovirus Outbreak Confirmed at Vancouver-area School
June 28, 2012 — Health officials have confirmed at least 41 cases of norovirus at Mamquam Elementary School in Brackendale, British Columbia, Canada.
Vancouver Coastal Health environmental health officers confirmed that the 41 students and staff contracted the virus during a field trip to Alice Lake last week, reports The Squamish Chief. Health officials have advised parents to reinforce proper hand hygiene skills at home and to keep infected children out of school for at least 48 hours after the symptoms subside.
