ISSA Engages GSA on FSSI

December 3, 2013 — ISSA has conducted several meetings with U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) officials, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and U.S. Congressional representatives in recent weeks as part of ISSA’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the anticipated substantial adverse economic impact that the upcoming Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI) will have on the commercial cleaning products industry.

A meeting conducted November 14 with the GSA’s Associate Administrator for Small Business Utilization resulted in the JanSan Request for Quotation’s (RFQ) response date being extended to December 5, allowing ISSA additional time to make its case.

Additionally, ISSA representatives met with GSA Commissioner Thomas Sharpe and GSA Director of Acquisition Operations Jeffrey Koses, November 26, to discuss the possibility of revising the RFQ to minimize economic fallout. ISSA advocated for an extension of the RFQ response date and increased business opportunities for association members under the strategic sourcing framework.

For more information on ISSA’s efforts in regard to FSSI, contact ISSA Legislative Affairs Director Bill Balek at 800-225-4772; e-mail bill@issa.com.
