- HFI Endorses CIMS and CIMS-GB
-
May 1, 2012 — The Healthy Facilities Institute (HFI) has announced its support of the ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) and CIMS-Green Building (GB) programs as means to help enhance the health of indoor environments.
“CIMS’s focus on a systems model to improve cleaning and especially the health of the indoor environment is crucial,” said Allen Rathey, president of HFI. “The fourth of the five pillars of (best-practice elements of) CIMS– health, safety, and environmental stewardship – placed in the context of an overall management system or platform is the only approach that will work to improve facility environments in a sustainable way.”
As part of the endorsement, HFI will publish articles regarding the CIMS program and its potential to positively impact the health of facilities on the institute’s Web site.
About HFI

HFI works to address the many interrelated aspects of built environments—air, water, energy, materials and resources, green cleaning, indoor environmental quality, waste management, people and more—as an integrated or holistic system. Inasmuch as “clean” is a metaphor for healthy indoor spaces, HFI also emphasizes prevention and removal of pollutants or contaminants to help ensure optimum conditions for living, learning, and working.
