September 14, 2011 — The U.S. Department of Education recently launched its Green Ribbon Schools initiative to salute environmental achievers, reports www.philly.com.
Developed in conjunction with the U.S. Green Building Council—or USGBC—and the National Wildlife Federation, the program is aimed at providing healthy environments for students and promoting environmental curriculum. The program will start taking nominations in early 2012 with the first awards presented on Earth Day 2012.
