- China to Rate Restaurant Hygiene With Smiles
September 20, 2011 — China’s State Food and Drug Administration has announced a new grading system for restaurants, according to Fox News.
Chinese inspectors will grade restaurants on materials, sanitation, and hygiene. Per the new grading system, restaurants that rate “excellent” will receive a smiley face rating. Those rated “good” will receive a straight face, while restaurants rated “average” will be issued an unhappy face.
