- Officials Warn Against Norovirus at 2012 Olympics
March 19, 2012 — Contagious infections like a norovirus outbreak has been ranked as one of the main threats to the 2012 Olympics in London, United Kingdom, according to a risk assessment report by the United Kingdom Home Office.
Security officials ranked a virus outbreak alongside terrorism and organized crime as the main threats to this summer’s Olympic Games, reported The Daily Telegraph. The risk assessment recommended virus monitoring systems be expanded in the run up to and during the Games to ensure early infection detection.
