- Study: Nearly 40% of U.S. Workers Suffer From Fatigue
June 12, 2012 — Nearly 40 percent of the U.S. workforce suffers from fatigue, according to a recent report from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).
ACOEM researchers defined fatigue as exhaustion, decreased alertness, weariness, lack of energy, muscle weakness, and slowed movements, according to a Crown Mats and Matting press release. The study found that many typical work injuries—including back, foot, neck, and knee injuries—can be traced directly to worker fatigue. Additionally, fatigue was found to cause poor judgment and loss of awareness.
