Bird Flu Reported in Tennessee

March 6, 2017

The U.S. Department of Agriculture ordered the culling of thousands of chickens in Tennessee to prevent the spread of the bird flu virus.

More than 73,000 chickens at a farm in Lincoln County, TN, were culled after health workers confirmed the presence of the highly pathogenic H7 avian influenza at the property. The facility has been quarantined, along with other local poultry farms.

No human infections have been linked to the virus, and officials are investigating the source, reports Fox News.
