Industry Loses O'Dell CEO

O’Dell Corp. CEO and South Carolina State Senator William H. “Billy” O’Dell passed away January 7, 2016. He was 77 years old.

O’Dell was born October 11, 1938, in Ware Shoals, SC. He earned his bachelor's degree from The Citadel in 1960, at which point he joined his family’s business, The O’Dell Corp.

In addition to his leadership roles with The O’Dell Corp., O’Dell was elected to the South Carolina Senate in 1988, representing the state’s fourth district. Over his 27-year tenure, O’Dell served in the state senate’s banking and insurance and labor, commerce, and industry committees, and was chairman of the senate’s general committee.

O’Dell is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Aedra Gayle O'Dell, his two children, William B. O’Dell and Michelle O’Dell Foster.
