January 24, 2017 Scholarship Honoring Former SCA VP Awarded to Tomas Rosén

The Alf de Ruvo Memorial Foundation has awarded its 2016 Alf de Ruvo scholarship to Swedish mechanical engineer Dr. Tomas Rosén.

The Alf de Ruvo Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to researchers within the sphere of cellulose-fiber-based materials. The foundation was formed in 2000 with funds donated in memory of Alf de Ruvo (1938-2000), licentiate of engineering and executive vice president of SCA.

Rosén, who currently works in the department of mechanics at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, was recognized for his research of non-spherical particles, which may lead to development of alternative processes for manufacturing paper.

The foundation presented the scholarship to Rosén at a ceremony hosted January 24 in Stockholm, Sweden, in conjunction with the Swedish Pulp and Paper Industry’s Ekman Days.
