Target to Eliminate Harmful Chemicals from Products by 2020

February 1, 2017

U.S. mega-retail chain Target Corp. has announced plans to eliminate harmful chemicals from its products as part of its new company policy.

Target plans to remove chemicals such as phthalates and formaldehyde from its products by 2020,. These include Target’s own private-branded products, national brands found on its shelves, and products used by its employees.  Phthalates are typically used in soaps and detergents to increase the longevity of the product.

Target’s new policy also includes more transparency of product ingredients between the retailer and its customers, the retailer told the Daily Star.
