Clorox Nears Renewable Energy Goal

The Clorox Co., parent company of Clorox Professional Products Co., has signed a 12-year, 70-megawatt virtual power purchase agreement for the purchase of renewable energy from Enel Green Power North America.

The deal, which goes into effect in 2021, represents nearly 50% of Clorox’s previously stated goal of establishing 100% renewable electricity for its operations in the United States and Canada by 2024. Financial terms of the agreement were not announced.

“Climate change and rising greenhouse gas emissions pose a real threat to the health of our planet and ultimately the long-term well-being of people globally,” said Benno Dorer, Clorox CEO. “That’s why we’ve taken action for more than 10 years to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of our operations. Our agreement with Enel helps to expand U.S. renewable energy infrastructure, reflecting our view that companies like Clorox play an important role in addressing global climate change.”

ISS Secures Contract Extension at Australian Airport

ISS has been awarded a contract extension with Brisbane Airport in Brisbane, Australia.

The three-year extension calls for ISS to provide the airport with a range of security services including passenger screening, mobile patrols, and surveillance systems. ISS has been servicing the airport for two decades.

Sale of KBS Finalized

Private investment firm GI Partners has finalized the sale of Kellermeyer Bergensons Services (KBS) to Cerberus Capital Management L. P.

GI Partners had acquired KBS in 2014, significantly expanding the company during the past five years through organic growth and a series of acquisitions. Financial details of the divestment were not announced.

CRI Presents Smrekar Memorial Award

The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) Inc. has presented the Joseph J. Smrekar Memorial Award to Russ Delozier.

The institute’s annual award was established by Milliken & Co. in 1998 to honor the late Dr. Joe Smrekar who volunteered on many CRI committees. CRI staff chose Delozier as this year’s winner for his volunteer efforts in support of the institute’s initiatives.

 “From everyone at CRI, we are grateful for Russ’s dedication and the expertise he brings as a volunteer,” said Joe Yarbrough, CRI president. “His participation is vital to many key committees and has been invaluable to CRI in support of the carpet industry.”

Delozier received the award at CRI’s annual membership meeting, which took place earlier this week in Dalton, Georgia.

PDI Acquires Tru-D SmartUVC

PDI has purchased a majority share of Tru-D SmartUVC.

The acquisition expands PDI’s offerings of infection prevention and environmental services products including Tru-D’s UVC robotics technology. Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
