June 22, 2018 3M Announces Finalists for 2018 Young Scientist Contest

3M, in partnership with Discovery Education, has announced the 10 finalists in the 2018 Young Scientist Challenge.

The annual contest called for students in grades 6-8 to submit a video demonstrating the science behind a possible solution to a common problem. Each finalist will now be paired with a 3M scientist to develop and manufacture an invention that solves the problem they identified.

All finalists will receive US$1,000 and a trip to 3M’s Innovation Center in St. Paul, MN. The winner will receive $25,000 along with the opportunity to attend the taping of a Discovery Network TV show.
