3M Sells Gas- and Flame-Detection Business

3M announced it has completed the sale of its gas- and flame-detection business to Teledyne Technologies Inc., a provider of instrumentation, digital imaging products and software, aerospace and defense electronics, and engineered systems, for US$230 million.

The business manufactures products sold under the Oldham, GMI, Detcon, Simtronics, and Scott Safety brand names. 3M will retain the Scott Safety brand name, which is not included in the transaction.

Approximately 500 employees who primarily support the gas- and flame-detection business joined Teledyne as a result of this sale.
