Clorox Hits Renewable Energy Goal
January 26, 2021The Clorox Co., parent company of Clorox Professional Products Co., has announced the company achieved 100% renewable electricity for its operations in Canada and the United States.
Clorox had previously stated a goal of establishing 100% renewable electricity for its operations in the two regions by 2024. The company announced plans to maintain the renewable energy goal through a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Enel Green Power’s Roadrunner solar project in Texas. The VPPA is projected to help Clorox avoid more than 180,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
“At Clorox, we feel a sense of urgency to address climate change given current warming trends resulting in significant impacts on our planet and global communities,” said Ed Huber, Clorox chief sustainability officer. “As a society, we’re at a pivotal point, with the health and well-being of future generations at stake. We recognize businesses play an important role in driving needed progress, and Clorox is committed to doing our part.”
