Coronavirus Crisis Creates Demand for Cleaning Professionals

While some sectors are seeing a reduction in hiring due to the current out break of COVID-19, the demand for cleaning professionals is seeing a spike.

According to online jobs marketplace ZipRecruiter, help-wanted postings for cleaners are on pace to increase 75% in March compared to the same time last year. Many companies across the country are attempting to assure customers their facilities are safe and secure, leading to an increased demand for sanitizing and deep cleaning services.

“There’s been a huge spike in demand for cleaning workers,” Julia Pollack, a labor economist at ZipRecruiter, told MarketWatch. “We didn’t see much of a change in February, but the first few weeks of March we are seeing a big shift.”
