Dow Increases Hand Sanitizer Production

March 30, 2020 Dow Increases Hand Sanitizer Production

Dow Chemical Co. announced the company has taken steps to increase hand sanitizer production at several factories across the globe.

Dow’s manufacturing facilities in Auburn, Michigan; South Charleston, West Virginia; Seneffe, Belgium; and Hortolândia, Brazil, have begun production of hand sanitizer to aid in coronavirus prevention. While these plants normally do not manufacture hand sanitizer, they possess the necessary raw material handling, mixing, and packaging capabilities to do so. Last week, Dow’s facility in Stade, Germany, also began hand sanitizer production.

Once these facilities reach full production, Dow’s collective output is expected to reach more than 440,000 pounds, or the equivalent of more than 880,000 eight-ounce bottles per week. Dow plans to donate the product to local health systems and government agencies.
