April 5, 2019

Health officials in Kentucky have confirmed an outbreak of E. coli in the state.

Nearly 50 cases of the gastrointestinal illness have been reported in Kentucky during the past two weeks, including six that required hospitalization, WKYT-TV reports. State health authorities are working with officials from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to determine the source of the outbreak. According to one CDC official, food contamination is being considered the likely origin of the bacteria.
