Essity to Upgrade German Factory

Essity announced plans to invest more than US$41.5 million in its Mannheim, Germany, manufacturing facility.

The facility upgrades will allow for the tissue plant to take advantage of a license agreement Essity recently signed securing exclusive rights to a proprietary technology that produces pulp from fiber sourced from agricultural by-products such as wheat straw. Once the factory enhancements are complete in the second half of 2020, Essity anticipates the factory to reduce its usage of water, chemicals, and energy.
