ISSA Attends Midwest Legislative Conference

July 24, 2019 ISSA Attends Midwest Legislative Conference

Between July 21-23, John Nothdurft, ISSA director of government affairs, attended the Council of State Government’s (CSG) Midwest Legislative Conference in Chicago. This meeting attracted more than 450 state elected officials from across the Midwest as well as Canada.

According to CSG’s website, “The Council of State Governments is the nation’s only nonpartisan association of state officials serving all three branches of government in all 50 states and the U.S. territories. CSG is a region-based, national organization that promotes excellence in state government. CSG fosters the interstate exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy, and it offers unparalleled regional, national, and international opportunities to network, develop leaders, collaborate, and create problem-solving partnerships.”

Over the course of the three-day event, Nothdurft spent time learning from experts about tariffs, trade, criminal justice reform, labor issues, and many more issues with direct impact on the cleaning industry. The event also provided Nothdurft the platform to educate dozens of lawmakers and allied businesses groups about ISSA, the cleaning industry, and its priority issues.

In August, ISSA representatives will also attend the National Conference of State Legislatures’ and American Legislative Exchange Council’s annual conferences to raise awareness among policymakers about the cleaning industry and the concerns impacting ISSA’s members.

If you would like to be the first to hear about pressing legislation, compliance deadlines, advocacy events, training, and more from ISSA, become an advocate for clean today.
