ISSA Launches New Fund to Support Advocacy on Behalf of Cleaning Industry
June 30, 2020ISSA has launched a new ISSA Advocacy Fund (IAF) to help ensure that the association has the resources necessary to effectively advocate on behalf of the cleaning industry now, during this critical time of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for years to come.
The association is building an even stronger ISSA advocacy arm to win key legislative and regulatory battles on behalf of the cleaning industry. The ISSA government affairs team has already made significant strides in a relatively short time. Most recently, ISSA spearheaded the introduction of the bipartisan Clean Start: Back to Work Tax Credit Act in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as ensured the cleaning industry was deemed “essential” in federal guidance and as part of nearly every state’s “stay-at-home” order. Additionally, ISSA has engaged in discussions with the White House to maintain a strong supply chain of critical products and equipment during the pandemic.
“To continue to achieve success in advocacy requires an enormous financial commitment–a commitment that can’t be met with membership dues alone,” said John Barrett, ISSA Executive Director. “We’re launching the IAF to help achieve passage of the Clean Start tax credit, which has been gaining momentum in Congress, and help ensure our government affairs department has the resources necessary to effectively advocate on behalf of the full spectrum of the cleaning industry.”
Contributions to the IAF will directly support the targeted grassroots advocacy, direct lobbying, issue education, coalition building, targeted public relations, research, and legal activities necessary to win key legislative and regulatory victories. Every IAF contribution, no matter the amount, strengthens ISSA advocacy and the association offers benefits starting at the US$50 level. Contributions will not be used to support candidates for political office or political parties.
Founding supporters who contribute at the Society level by October 1 will receive two complimentary registrations for ISSA’s exclusive post-election debriefing on November 10 in Arlington, Virginia (virtual participation will be available) and designation on the ISSA website as an ISSA Advocacy Fund Founding Supporter.
“Non-tax-deductible contributions to the ISSA Advocacy Fund will help us achieve passage of the bipartisan and commonsense Clean Start: Back to Work Tax Credit as well as help keep the cleaning industry at the forefront of the legislative and regulatory agendas in Washington, D.C. and throughout the 50 states,” said John Nothdurft, ISSA Director of Government Affairs. “We thank our members and other supporters for seizing this important opportunity for the cleaning industry today.”
