Johnson Controls, Inc. will invest more than US$50 million to upgrade eight U.S. manufacturing facilities.

The investment will be used to increase the factories’ production capabilities, allowing Johnson Controls to manufacture up to 10 million absorbent glass mat (AGM) batteries in the United States per year.

The expansion is part of Johnson Controls overall strategy in which the company will invest more than $450 million during the next four years to increase its global production of AGM batteries, The Milwaukee Business Journal reports.
