Newell to Move Headquarters and Retain Rubbermaid Unit

Newell Brands Inc., parent company of Rubbermaid Commercial Products, has confirmed it intends to retain the Rubbermaid unit, OPI reports.

The Rubbermaid Commercial Products business had been classified as “held for sale” and had discontinued operations on Newell’s balance sheet. However, Newell decided to keep this US$1 billion unit based on the strength of the brand; its competitive position in a large and growing category; and its track record of strong cash flow generation, sales growth, and strong margins.

Newell also announced it would be moving its corporate headquarters to Atlanta. Currently, only three of the group’s seven operating divisions—Writing, Baby, and Food—are based in Atlanta. The purpose of the move is to facilitate a stronger connection between senior leaders and the operations of the business and to enhance the company’s culture and sense of community.
