Sofidel Survey Finds Preference for Sustainability

February 27, 2020

More than three-fourths of Americans surveyed (77%) said they prefer to purchase products from brands that prioritize sustainability efforts to fight global warming, according to a survey commissioned by Sofidel America Corp.

The online survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults found that 64% see climate change as either a serious problem or a crisis and 27% strongly agree people should purchase sustainable products in efforts to protect the environment.

A commitment to environmentalism was strongest among younger adults surveyed, with 82% of respondents ages 18-34 agreeing they prefer to purchase from brands that prioritize sustainability.

Companies are taking notice of consumers’ views as nearly three in four companies integrate climate risk into their business practices, according to CDP Worldwide, a nonprofit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states, and regions to manage their environmental impacts. Among professionals in the cleaning industry, two in five have found that buyers prefer products that help limit their paper waste.

CMM has more information on how facilities are implementing strategies to cut down on paper waste, such as using dispensers that provide a specific length of product and limit the amount restroom users can receive in a “second helping.”
