January 22, 2021 Straight Talk! Examines the New Administration’s Impact on the Cleaning Industry

Almost immediately after U.S. President Joe Biden was inaugurated this week his administration went to work establishing executive orders and other legislation to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

In this edition of Straight Talk!, Dr. Gavin Macgregor-Skinner, director of the Global Biorisk Advisory CouncilTM (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, discusses the effect of these federal regulations on the cleaning industry, including the recently published National Strategy for the COVID-19 Response and Pandemic Preparedness.

According to Dr. Macgregor-Skinner, nearly a dozen of the Biden administration’s orders impact the cleaning industry and now is the time to look into the next steps to support these regulations as they begin to be implemented nationwide. Dr. Macgregor-Skinner also addresses the federal mask mandate for public transportation and federal facilities, the newly established COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force, and revised guidance and new standards from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on infectious disease agents in the workplace.
