January 11, 2017

Cleaning crews vigorously scrubbed surfaces Monday at St. Charles East High School in St. Charles, IL, after 800 students and 50 staff members missed class due to norvirus-like symptoms.

According to a report from television station WLS in Chicago, IL, cleaning crews used a bleach solution to disinfect the school and were guided with the help of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in addition to the Kane County Health Department.

Classes were cancelled for Tuesday, and school administrators have asked parents to keep children at home if they display signs of the gastrointestinal illness.
