Flu Activity Continues to Decline

While the overall reports of influenza activity in the United States declined again last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a warning about B strains of viruses.

The CDC’s weekly report found 17 states experienced low activity in flu-like illness for the week ending March 17, while 18 states reported minimal activity. 

Last week nearly 58 percent of all laboratory-confirmed cases of flu were caused by B strains of influenza viruses. Individuals sickened by the flu’s A strain can get a different strain of the virus during the same season. According to the CDC, young children in particular are highly susceptible to these B strains of influenza.
