W.W. Grainger, Inc. has posted a 4 percent overall sales increase for the month of January.
Grainger attributed the growth to acquisitions, specifically its purchase of British distributor Cromwell Group Ltd. Grainger’s daily sales in the United States were up 1 percent, while the company’s sales in Asia, Europe, and Latin America increased 51 percent in local currencies.
Grainger often is considered a harbinger of the U.S. economy due to the wide range of its offerings.
