Norovirus Sickens Hundreds at Kentucky Mall

July 26, 2018

Public health officials have linked more than 300 case of norovirus to the food court at Fayette Mall in Lexington, KY.

According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, 350 people came down with the gastrointestinal illness after eating in the mall’s food court last week. The mall’s Chick-fil-A restaurant was closed last Friday after a majority of its employees called in sick. The entire food court was shut down earlier this week, so custodians could perform a thorough cleaning and sanitizing of the facility, The Lexington Herald Leader reports.

No new cases of norovirus have been linked to the food court since the shutdown, but local health authorities are monitoring the situation.
