Salmonella Fears Spark Massive Flour Recall

March 12, 2019

The Pillsbury Co. has issued a voluntary recall for around 12,185 cases of flour, totaling more than 10 million pounds of product due to the risk of salmonella.

Pillsbury issued the recall after a random inspection revealed traces of the bacteria. The potentially infected bags of flour were shipped to distributors and retailers throughout the U.S., The New York Times reports.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is monitoring the situation to determine the source of the salmonella. So far, no reports of illness have been linked to the flour.
