Salmonella Outbreak Prompts Pistachios Recall

March 10, 2016 << Back to News

Wonderful Company LLC has voluntarily recalled 46 lots of in-shell and shelled pistachios due to the risk of salmonella.

Wonderful Company issued the recall after U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials confirmed 11 individuals in nine states were diagnosed with salmonella linked to the tainted pistachios, including two hospitalizations. The potentially infected pistachios were distributed throughout the United States and Canada under the brand names Trader Joe’s, Paramount Farms, and Wonderful.

Wonderful Company is working with CDC officials to determine the source of the outbreak and has implemented enhanced food safety and testing programs at its production facilities, reports Fortune
