Salmonella Outbreak Sparks Massive Ground Beef Recall

December 4, 2018

JBS Tolleson, Inc. has voluntary recalled more than 5.1 million pounds of raw beef products due to possible salmonella contamination.

The Tolleson, AZ-based food processor had previously issued a recall for 6.9 million pounds of beef products earlier this year. The 12 million pounds of potentially tainted meat has been linked to an outbreak of salmonella that has sickened more than 240 people in 25 states, resulting in at least 50 hospitalizations, USA Today reports.

JBS Tolleson is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service to determine the source of the outbreak.
