Top Cities for Termites Treatments Revealed
March 7, 2019Facility managers may want to keep an eye out for damp areas around their buildings as well as foundation cracks where insects and other pests can enter. Spring brings swarms of termites seeking wood, and your facility may be at risk.
Exterminators treated the most termite cases in Miami, FL, followed by Los Angeles, CA; Tampa, FL; New York, NY; and New Orleans, LA; according to a news release from Orkin based on data where the company performed the most first-time termite treatments from February 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019.
Orkin recommends the following strategies to prevent termites from entering your building:
- Check water drainage sites to ensure they remain cleared and effective.
- Monitor the collection of moisture by fixing pipes, gutters, downspouts, air conditioning units, and other fixtures susceptible to leaking.
- Caulk around utility lines or pipes.
- Place screens on outside vents.
- Check wooden structures for damage.
