C.L. “Bud” Smith founded his company as a full-line container distributor of rigid packaging. His vision was to treat customers like friends and provide them with the best – products, prices, and service. In 1988, Smith saw a customer need for smaller runs, shorter lead times, alternative size options, and greater customization from their bottle manufacturers, so Lyons Blow Molding was launched as a division within C.L. Smith.  In 2005, the HAZPlus division was born to meet the need for a UN Certified Package Testing Lab for the safe distribution of hazardous materials. In 2021, private equity firm Kelso & Company acquired a majority interest in C.L. Smith to add it to Novvia Group, a leader in packaging solutions with several dynamic companies across the U.S. and Canada.
