Cleaning for a Reason, an ISSA Charities signature program that provides free house cleanings to individuals battling cancer, was founded in 2006 and initially focused on serving women who had been diagnosed with the disease. Over the last 14 years, the organization has grown its network to more than 1,200 cleaning partners and expanded its services to more and more patients.

Today, Cleaning for a Reason offers free house cleaning services to women, men, and children with cancer in the United States and Canada. The program also supports patients during many different phases of treatment. It works with those who are undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, hospice care, and other alternative and progressive therapies.

Redesigning the logo

As lavender is the color that represents those living with all types of cancer, Cleaning for a Reason recently updated its logo to include lavender elements as we serve patients with any type of cancer diagnosis. The ribbon is now bordered in the light purple and subtly mixes into the signature pink. The script is also bolder and more prominent and includes reference to Cleaning for a Reason as an ISSA Charity.

A new tagline “Clean Homes for Cancer Patients™” brings purple to the forefront as well. By providing clean homes, we not only provide a sanitized environment, but also offer hope, relief, and the ability to gain a sense of control over our environment during challenging and uncertain times.

These slight adjustments elevate Cleaning for a Reason’s branding while remaining rooted in the organization’s past.

An online presence improvement

In addition to the logo and tagline updates, Cleaning for a Reason has also debuted a new website at www.cleaningforareason.org. It brings the branding to life through pink and lavender accents and offers an improved user experience. The website is a great resource for patients who are interested in learning more about Cleaning for a Reason and applying for services, as well as both residential and commercial cleaning companies who want to partner with the organization.

Cancer centers also have a dedicated page on the website where they can register to receive materials that help them promote Cleaning for a Reason among their patients. While volunteering is currently on hold due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, we hope to once again offer the opportunity for individuals to create their own volunteering events soon.

Cleaning for a Reason also relies on generous donations to help us support additional patients. We offer a secure donation platform for individual and corporate donors and can help organizations set up gift matching as well.

Coming together for a cause

In the fight against cancer, patients need the support of their family, friends, and community. Each and every day, Cleaning for a Reason’s partners donate their time, services, and hearts to those in need. Since 2006, we have served more than 41,000 cancer patients and their families across all 50 states and Canada. These donated cleanings are valued at nearly $14.1 million in services. Looking ahead, the new brand identity and website will better position Cleaning for a Reason to welcome more cleaning partners, patients, volunteers, and donors.

“We’re incredibly excited for this next chapter of Cleaning for a Reason,” says Debbie Sardone, founder of Cleaning for a Reason. “As we continue to experience increasing demand for our services, the new website better positions us to educate key groups like residential cleaners, patients, and donors about the organization’s important work. With everyone’s help, we’ll be able to expand our reach to more women, men, and children around the U.S. and Canada.”

Cleaning for a Reason is always looking for additional cleaning partners to donate services as well as donors to support our goal of expanding service to more cancer patients. If you operate a cleaning company in the United States or Canada, or would like to become an individual donor or corporate sponsor, visit cleaningforareason.org.
