GBACtv: Cases Rapidly Rising as the ‘Stealth’ Variant Creates Global Concern
Just as it seems we were ready to enter a recovery period from the omicron variant, cases of COVID-19 have begun to rise in Europe and across the globe. Public health officials and scientists are closely monitoring the spread of a new subvariant of omicron, known as BA.2.
Also known as the “stealth” strain, BA.2 has genetic mutations that could make it harder to distinguish from the delta variant using PCR tests, compared with the original omicron variant, BA.1. But what does this mean for the cleaning industry?
In this episode of BioTalk, a GBACtv production, ISSA Media Director Jeff Cross and his co-host Patricia Olinger, Executive Director of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council® (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, examine what we know currently about this emerging variant with John Cordier, Epistemix CEO. Tune in as they discuss the dangers of pandemic fatigue and how this new genetic mutation may become a more serious health issue, especially with certain demographics.
