Tell the House to Pass the WIPPES Act to Create a National Standard for Do-Not-Flush Labeling

What it means: Take a moment to email, post on X, and/or call your U.S. Representative to request their support for the bipartisan Wastewater Infrastructure Pollution Prevention and Environmental Safety (WIPPES) Act (S. 1092).

Why it matters: The WIPPES Act received unanimous support in committee and passed the U.S. House of Representatives via a voice vote last year. The Senate version, which was tweaked in committee, is heading back to the House for final consideration. If adopted, the WIPPES Act would ensure that wipes manufacturers would not have to navigate a complex patchwork of state labeling laws.

What ISSA is doing: ISSA; INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry; and other groups representing the wipes industry, wastewater operators, and environmental stakeholders are leading an industry-wide effort to provide clarity to the wipes industry by urging Congress to adopt a uniform Do-Not-Flush labeling law. We are very close to getting the Senate-passed version of this bill through the House and onto the President’s desk. We urge you to ask your U.S. Representative to support the bipartisan WIPPES Act. Take action now

El Salvador TPS Gets Last-Minute Reprieve: What Employers Should Do While Awaiting Details
Employers with Salvadoran workers relying on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) received some welcome news at the eleventh hour earlier this month when U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the very day that their designation was scheduled to expire that they will retain their protections, including work authorization.

However, calling the September 9 announcement an “extension” might be generous, as the government has not announced a new expiration date, explained how long the continuation will last, or provided updated instructions for employers completing or updating Forms I-9. In fact, the agency’s El Salvador TPS page still lists September 9, 2026, as the date through which TPS was continued, even while a new alert at the top of the page says protections remain in place. States, Cities Sue over Trump Rule Seeking to Deny Green Cards to Immigrants Using Public Benefits
Democratic-led states and cities filed lawsuits challenging a federal rule that was set to begin September 18 that they say gives President Trump’s administration broad discretion to deny green cards to immigrants who rely on public assistance for food, healthcare, housing, and other basic needs.
