Program Details

Transform your EVS team from a behind-the-scenes support function into a frontline patient safety partner with the Healthcare Environmental Hygiene Professional (HEHP) Certification. This onsite, three-tier training program brings expert classroom instruction and hands-on skills practice directly to your facility, aligning EVS competencies with real clinical expectations and infection prevention priorities. By structuring learning around the environments of care—basic, intermediate, and advanced—HEHP equips your team to perform with confidence from standard patient rooms to ICUs, isolation rooms, ORs, EDs, sterile processing, and beyond.

The program is designed to:

  • recognize the expertise of environmental hygiene professionals,
  • define clear competencies and infection prevention expectations,
  • support organizations in building stronger, evidence‑based hygiene programs.

Developed in collaboration with EVS leaders, infection preventionists, nursing professionals, and healthcare thought leaders, HEHP closes the infection prevention gap, often missing from other EVS training programs, by translating microbiology, pathogen transmission, the chain of infection, antimicrobial stewardship, and disinfectant selection into practical, repeatable EVS workflows. Competencies are verified through in-person instruction, hands-on practicum, structured implementation support, and semiannual observational visits to ensure skills are sustained, not just checked off. The result: an EVS workforce that is formally trained, clinically aligned, and recognized as a strategic infection prevention asset.
