Who is considered an Emerging Leader?
An Emerging Leader is a dynamic individual who demonstrates significant promise and potential to influence the future direction of our industry through innovative practices, leadership qualities, and a commitment to advancing the field. This person brings fresh perspectives, challenges conventional practices, and leverages new technologies, methodologies or sustainable practices to improve standards, efficiency, and the overall impact of cleaning on public health and the environment.
An ISSA Emerging Leader displays many or all the following traits:
Visionary
Possesses the ability to envision the future direction of their organization or industry and formulates strategies to achieve it.
Adaptive
Demonstrates flexibility and agility in responding to changing market dynamics, technological advancements, and evolving business landscapes.
Innovative
Generates new ideas, processes, or products that drive growth and competitiveness in their organization.
Collaborative
Fosters teamwork and cooperation among team members, recognizing the value of diverse perspectives and collective problem-solving.
Continuous Learner
Actively seeks opportunities for personal and professional development and stays abreast of industry trends and best practices.
Eligibility Criteria
- ISSA Member organizations and their employees.
- Anyone under 40 years of age* is eligible to be nominated.
- You may nominate yourself or submit a nomination on behalf of someone else.
* Nominees must be under the age of 40 as of October 2026.
Additional Awards
All individuals selected for the Emerging Leaders Class will be eligible to win the Jimmy Core Award: Rising Star of the Year, celebrating outstanding leadership and influence. The winner is selected via popular vote during a set voting period.

ISSA is excited to announce the addition of two new honors open to our class of Emerging Leaders.
- Community Impact Award—Recognizing an Emerging Leader who is making a meaningful difference through volunteerism and service within their organization and community.
- Sales Leader of the Year—Spotlighting a high-performing sales professional who has demonstrated exceptional results and leadership through sales excellence.
Honorees for these two awards will be chosen by a panel of judges made up of industry leaders and peers.
