Cintas Crowns 2024 Custodian of the Year

Cintas Corp. has named Bob Galewski the 2024 Cintas Custodian of the Year.

The contest, now in its 11th year, called for elementary, middle, high-school, and college students, in addition to staff, to submit a short essay describing why their school’s custodian deserves the award. Ten finalists were selected from a pool of hundreds of submissions. The public then voted on the winner with Galewski, a custodian from Wabasha-Kellogg High School in Wabasha, Minnesota, as the top vote getter.

“School custodians do more than keep facilities clean and safe; they’re often support systems for the community,” said John Rudy, Cintas senior marketing director. “It’s clear Bob cares about the well-being of each student at his school and does all he can to help them succeed.”

As the winning custodian, Galewski will receive US$10,000 and an additional $5,000 in Rubbermaid Commercial Products and Cintas products for his school. Wabasha-Kellogg High School will also receive a facility assessment and consulting package from ISSA and Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) Advanced by GBAC certification, valued at $20,000. In addition, Galewski, along with the two other top three finalists, will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to the ISSA Show North America in Las Vegas in November where they’ll be celebrated for their accomplishments.

“Custodians are vital in helping keep school facilities clean and safe,” said ISSA Executive Director John Barrett. “Over the last 100 years, ISSA has been focused on evolving the cleaning industry for the better. Our training services for this year’s finalists will help them improve their skills and elevate their facilities.”
