Cintas Nears Transition to LED Lighting
Cintas Corp. has announced it is nearing completion of a companywide LED lighting transition project.
The multi-year undertaking is designed to reduce energy use at Cintas facilities as part of the company’s goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Cintas engineers completed LED installations at more than 125 locations in the United States and Canada in 2023. More than 27,000 incandescent and fluorescent lighting fixtures have been swapped out since the project was launched in 2019, and the energy savings generated by the LEDs represents more than 16,500 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions averted annually.
“We’ve already installed LED lighting in over six million square feet of space in our facilities, which is poised to reduce our annual energy use by almost 23.3 million kilowatt hours going forward,” said Christy Nageleisen, Cintas environmental, social, and governance (ESG) vice president.
