Essity to Upgrade Operations in New Zealand
Essity has announced plans to invest US$18.84 million in its Kawerau, New Zealand, facility.
The Kawerau plant is Essity’s sole production facility for toilet tissue, paper towels, and kitchen towels in New Zealand. The enhancements will decarbonize paper production at the facility by transitioning from natural gas to geothermal energy. Essity aims to lower its carbon footprint by 66% by replacing the plant’s natural gas component with a new dryer drum that uses geothermal steam for heat and drying, Inside FMCG reports.
