Solvay Announces Leadership Team for Syensqo Spin-off

Solvay announced new leadership teams to be appointed upon its planned spin-off.

Early next month, Solvay shareholders are set to vote on a proposal to split the company into two entities—the existing Solvay and the new, specialty chemicals-focused Syensqo, Reuters reports.

Ilham Kadri, current Solvay CEO, has been appointed CEO of Syensqo. Kadri has served as CEO of Solvay since 2019, having joined the company from Diversey, where she was CEO and president for more than five years. Kadri is also one of the founders of the ISSA Hygieia Network.

Christopher Davis has been appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of Syensqo. Davis most recently served as CFO and chief sustainability officer at Orica. In addition, Rosemary Thorne will chair the board of Syensqo.

In a related move, Philippe Kehren has been named CEO of the company that will keep the Solvay name. Kehern is currently president and head of sustainability of Solvay’s soda ash and derivatives unit. Alexandre Blum, currently finance director of the soda ash and derivatives unit, will serve as CFO of Solvay, with the company’s board chaired by Pierre Gurdjian.
