ABM Contracted to Cut South Carolina School District’s Energy CostsOctober 14, 2022
ABM has secured an energy performance contract with the Abbeville County School District (ACSD) in Abbeville, South Carolina.
The contract calls for ABM to upgrade ACSD schools, along with the district’s adult education and career centers, with energy-efficient HVAC systems, LED lighting, upgraded building controls, and water conservation enhancements.
“The pandemic highlighted infrastructure needs nationwide, but it also required schools to invest more in alternative learning, teachers, and technology,” said Mark Hawkinson, president of ABM’s technical solutions division. “We can do more for schools today than save them energy costs. We deliver solutions that address the capital investment needs and operating cost challenges schools face, so they can best use funds for the benefit of students and teachers.”
Based on current energy prices, the deal is expected to reduce the facilities’ energy consumption and save the county more than US$4.9 million in energy and operating costs during the next 15 years. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
