ABM Helps Virginia City Cut Energy Costs

June 29, 2021 ABM Helps Virginia City Cut Energy Costs

ABM has secured an energy performance contract with Emporia, Virginia.

The contract calls for ABM to assist Emporia with developing energy and operational savings which will then be used to upgrade water meters city-wide with advanced metering infrastructure. The operational savings will also help fund needed improvements to Emporia’s water treatment plant. Additionally, as part of the deal ABM will provide infrastructure upgrades to five municipal buildings, including improved HVAC, security, and building automation systems, and enhance the city’s traffic signals and streetlights with high-efficiency LED technology.

Once completed, the project is expected to deliver Emporia US$2.1 million in energy and operational savings over 20 years, while earning the city an additional projected $5.1 million in benefits based on current energy prices.
