Dow Honored for Supplier Engagement on Climate Change

May 1, 2023 Dow Honored for Supplier Engagement on Climate Change

Dow has been named a 2022 Supplier Engagement Leader by the global nonprofit environmental organization CDP.

The CDP’s designation reflects Dow’s efforts in 2022 to reduce emissions of what is referred to as Scope 3 (which includes purchased goods and services, purchased transportation, and waste from operations) in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This marks the second consecutive year Dow has achieved such designation from CDP.

“Only by effectively engaging our suppliers in emission reduction initiatives can Dow achieve scalable decarbonization at the pace required to meet our 2050 carbon neutrality targets,” said Cathy Budd, Dow chief purchasing officer. “Scope 3 emissions represent approximately 70% of Dow’s carbon footprint, with more than half of those originating from purchased raw materials, transportation, and other services. We need our suppliers to reduce their climate emissions to enable reductions throughout the value chain.”
